Visit “Rerooting in Polder” show at Casco, Utrecht

Wapke Feenstra invited me and other collaborators to co-create a film about connecting with the Dutch polder landscape. My project in Brezoi is also part of this show!

Read Eternal Calendar essay here!

The essay accompanies the photo series Eternal Calendar. It is a collection of notes and reflections gathered during the process of making the project.

My artistic path is a research, search and tests in emancipating horizontal relationships between human & nature, individual & society. In Latvian folk songs people always sing/speak TO animals, plants, sun, sky, earth, natural deities or sometimes AS, but never ABOUT. That is not just a creative choice, but an example of a horizontal type of relationality to the other. I wish to experiment with that non-objectifying way of speaking, being, creating in a visual arts & contemporary culture context.

My name is Indra Gleizde (LV, based in Rotterdam), I am a lens-based artist and community-engaged collaborative art project producer. Writing, too, is an important means for communicating my findings and methods, contextualising how I came to certain ideas or visual interpretations. My work finds an audience through publications, exhibitions, presentation performances and workshops.
