About
Currently based in Rotterdam (NL), I am a Latvian lens-based artist and producer of collaborative art projects. With an educational background in social anthropology and photography, my artistic path is a research, search and tests in emancipating horizontal relationality within more-than-human contexts, critically examining center–periphery relationships and the role of rurality in contemporary art.
Writing, too, is an important means of communicating my findings and methods. My work finds audiences through publications, exhibitions, presentation-performances and workshops.
Next to my autonomous practice, I am also part of the artist collective & platform RSoE. I participate in several long-term projects that emphasize knowledge rooted in rural contexts and trans-local collaboration through non-hierarchical, place-based approaches. Currently, I am directly involved in the projects in Brezoi, Boerenzij, Arden in de Polder, Rogovka and others.
More coming soon! I’ll be adding five years of projects to this site over the winter.
